BRANDON LI’S LOW LIGHT SONY A7SIII TEST

Another project I color graded for Brandon Li this time testing low-light Slog-3 footage from the newly released Sony A5SIII with ISO ranging from 640 – 1250. Brandon wanted to go for a David Fincher Fight Club look so the footage made perfect sense here.

Lit exclusively with available artificial lighting this look needed a bit of massaging, but again the Sony A7SIII 10-bit color depth footage helped to preserve shadow and highlight detail.

I have to say that this really was a fun look, primarily because color grading low light footage from prosumer cameras cannot be typically stretched much before falling apart, let alone dealing with noise, but this Slog3 was shining.
